Trafford is a metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, EnglandEngland is the largest, the most populous, and the most densely populated of the four " Home Nations" which make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK). Occupying the south-eastern portion of the island of Great Britain, England. It has a population of about 220,000 and includes the towns of AltrinchamAltrincham (population 40,000) is a town to the south of Manchester in the Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester. It is also bordered by the wealthy suburbs of Hale and Bowdon. Geography Altrincham is located at 53°24'00" North, 02°21'00" West (53., Sale, Stretford, and Urmston .

The borough was formed on April 1, 1974 as a merger of the boroughs of Altrincham and Sale, along with Bowdon and Hale urban districts and part of Bucklow Rural District , all in Cheshire, along with the borough of Stretford and Urmston urban district from Lancashire.
