Üqoi is an invented language begun by Bruce V. Bracken in 1996. It is an agglutinative language whose grammatical structure is entirely based on the noun. Among its unique features is the expression of an emotional state or state of being in a directly verbal form, without an intermediary verb; a class of vowels called "viscerals", which are pronounced from below the sternum; mbö'özhiizhiighugijlaa, "grammar symbols", diacritical marks to indicate the plural, definite article, and genitive-adjective-plural forms. The Üqoi Alphabet, or Mbö'özhiizhiighukhamno Üqoi, has fifty-three characters, thirteen basic characters, and forty with diacritical marks to indicate length and visceralization of vowels, consonantal aspiration and s'qubak, "vibration", or softening (e.g., zh, sh, v, f, gh, ggh, kh, kkh).
