An urban spelunker is a building hacker, engaging in usually unauthorized exploration of steam tunnels, attics, air shafts, basements, abandoned buildings or military installations, and other areas generally off-limits to the public. The preferred current term for this behaviour is urban caving, 'spelunker,' a U.S. English term, having developed an amateurish connotation.
