Home > Uxbridge Road tube station

Although Kensington (Olympia) (then: Addison Road) today is only situated on a short branch of the District Line, there has been a Metropolitan Line service until 1940 which followed the mainline tracks northwards and joined the Metropolitan branch to Hammersmith (today: Hammersmith&City Line) just south of Latimer Road station. On this short Met stretch Uxbridge Road station was situated, just a short walk from White City on the Central Line.

Although services of both District and Metropolitan were to terminate at Kensington (Olympia) there were some services running through all the way from Latimer Road to Earl's Court, thus forming the so-called Outer Circle.

Uxbridge Road station was closed along with the rest of the branch on Sept 20th 1940, although it still has been printed on 1947 tube maps.

Little remains of the station can be found today as a new road has been built on its site. The whole branch has vanished.
